Applications
1. Deoxidation: Aluminum granules are widely used to remove oxygen from molten steel. When added, aluminum reacts with oxygen to form aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃), helping to reduce the oxygen content in the steel, which is essential for improving the steel’s quality and properties.
2. Alloying Agent: Aluminum is often added to steel to improve its properties, such as increasing strength, corrosion resistance, and toughness. It is particularly important in the production of certain types of steel, such as stainless steel, where aluminum helps improve resistance to oxidation and enhances the steel’s durability.
3. Improving Castability: In steelmaking, aluminum can be used to refine the grain structure of the steel, improving its castability and reducing defects during casting processes.
4. Desulfurization: Aluminum is also used in steelmaking to help remove sulfur from the steel, further enhancing the quality of the final product, especially in high-grade steels.
