What is Calcium Silicon?

        As its name implied, calcium silicon, it is consist of silicon, calcium, iron and some impurities. It is a kind of alloy. When it comes to CaSi, we have to introduce its application. Its major application is deoxidizer.

Applications for Calcium Silicon

        As we know, calcium is active element with strong affinity, it can react with oxygen, hydrogen and sulphur. When you add calcium silicon in molten steel, you will find that Ca steam is produced, thereby makes inclusions came-up easily as a result of stirring.

        Calcium silicon alloy is usually used as deoxidizing agent, after deoxidizing, it generated non-metallic inclusions with larger size. Meanwhile, their properties are changed silently. Due to these, it mainly used to produce clean steel, high quality steel and other steels.

Calcium Silicon Powder Uses

        From its name, I believe that you can guess the producing process more or less. As you guess, raw material is calcium silicon lump. It is cracked into certain size. As for its use, calcium silicon powder is used in producing cored wire(CaSi cored wire) widely.

Uses for Calcium Silicon(CaSi) Cored Wire

        Raw material for calcium silicon cored wire is calcium silicon powder and outer sheath is steel strip. It has many merits during steelmaking process such as purify the molten steel, consummate the performance of steel, reduce costs, keep calcium treatment stably and so on.

        Oxides and deoxidation products are formed during the process. It is harmful for intrinsic quality of steel. Thus, we must try our best to eliminate them from steel in order to obtain premium steel. Just right, calcium silicon cored wire can be qualified this role, especially Ca. When it is fed into molten steel, calcium can interact with steel. Some oxides and low melting point compounds can be generated during the whole process. It was called calcium oxides’ denaturation.
