Calcium cored wire is usually one ton or two tons per a roll. Packing is divided into vertical and horizontal. In transportation it is usually 20MT/GP(TEU).
Calcium Cored Wire Application
Modifying inclusions is major purpose for calcium cored wire in steel.
When it comes to this application, we have to talk about inclusions. They are non-metallic compounds usually and harmful to mechanical property and other properties. Calcium sulphide, calcium aluminate and other calcium compounds are generated by chemical reaction of Ca cored wire and impurities in molten steel. Due to eliminating inclusions’ function, it can produce environmental-friendly and high-quality steel by adding calcium cored wire to steel.
As a result of adding calcium cored wire, it is conducive for steel to drop sulphur content.
As we mentioned above, calcium can react with sulphur. And it can decrease sulphur content effectively, thereby, consummating steel’s ductility and toughness.
Besides, it can be also used as deoxidizer.
While adding calcium cored wire to molten steel, calcium reacts with oxygen and removes it from steel. Moreover, it makes steel clean and reduce shortcoming in finished product.
Merits of Calcium Cored Wire
1. Calcium primary application is used as alloying element, it relies on specific composition for cored wire. Calcium silicon cored wire as an example, if you want to improve electrical conductivity, magnetism and other properties of steel, you will add calcium silicon(CaSi) cored wire and silicon element at the same time.
2. It is used for controlled wire feeding usually, it is effective for stability of quality to control addition amount of calcium accurately.
Calcium cored wire will eventually belong to environmental friendly steel production. It helps not only to reduce emission for detrimental gas but also to attain the goal that becomes a cleaner steelmaking process.
